Getting Back to Personal Banking through Design

Over the past decade, the banking industry has made important changes to how they interact with customers. One of the key techniques proven to make the banking experience pleasurable for customers is the design of the space.

Sandra Haltner, of Haltner, LLC, influenced this movement with her award-winning design of a non-traditional banking space. The American Society of Interior Designers awarded Sandra with the commercial space award in 2007, for her design of First Victoria Bank in Bryan/College Station, which integrated the atmosphere of the local Starbucks into the space.

“In the high-tech world, people feel that they’ve lost their personal relationship with their banker,” Haltner said. “These kinds of concepts are an invitation to spend time there, to get to know your banker, to enjoy the atmosphere.”
